1. Originated from Kang family to practice the “Liuyu” culture.
The Kang family, located in Heluo Area, has engaged in business for generations. By insisting on practicing the ancestral motto of " Liuyu ", it was known as the "living God of wealth in the Central Plains" across the eras of Ming & Qing Dynasties and the Republic of China. In 1901, Empress Dowager Cixi, an important political figure in the late Qing Dynasty, visited Kang’s manor and named the Kang family "Kangbaiwan", making it famous all over the country.
In the 38th year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1773 AD), Kang Yusheng, a native of former Suri (now Kangdian Town, Gongyi City, Zhengzhou) in Henan Province and the tenth descendant of the Heluo Kang’s family, admiring the reputation of Huai medicine, crossed the Yellow River and removed to the Leng Village in the southwest of Huaiqing Prefecture (now the Leng Village in the southwest of Wenxian County, Henan Province), began to engage in planting, processing and trade of Huai medicine, and established firm titled "Huaishantang".
2. Inheriting ingenuity to win the world with integrity
Kang Yusheng passed Huaishantang down to his son Kang Jinlu. Thanks to its sophisticated planting management, unique processing skills, and honest and trustworthy business practices, Huaishantang attracted many merchants from all over the world. Especially, the yam prepared with special techniques was once selected locally as a tribute to the royal family every year.
Over more than 200 years since then, generations of inheritors of the Kang family have always adhered to the business purpose of honesty and trustworthiness, fair operation, and leave adequate leeway. At the same time, they have always sticked to the traditional processing skills of traditional Chinese medicine, and produced fine yam with the craftsman spirit. Therefore, the reputation of Huaishantang became more and more widely spread, so the Kang family was famous for Huai medicine for several generations and became a model of Henan merchants. Gradually, the family operated business in Beijing, Hebei, Shandong, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong and other places, and established business branches in many places, such as "Heng Chang De" and "Lin Xing Jiu" and others, which also enjoyed a good reputation in the field of Huai medicine.
So far, Huaishantang has been passed down from eight generations and has a development history of 248 years. It was successfully rated as "Henan Time-honored Brand" and "China Self-owned Brand".
